Works with every chat app
WhatsApp, Telegram, SMS or email: Ramzi turns your message into a locked block of text you can paste anywhere. Only your contact can open it.
Fully offline
Ramzi has no internet permission at all. No account, no servers and no tracking. Your keys never leave your phone.
An open standard
Ramzi uses OpenPGP, the same standard as GnuPG and other PGP apps, so you can also write to people who don’t use Ramzi.
Most messengers ask you to trust them with your secrets. With Ramzi you don’t have to: your message is already locked before it reaches any app.

What Ramzi does
Simple on the surface, strong underneath
Encrypt right where you type
Select your text in any app, choose Ramzi, and replace it with the encrypted version. No copying back and forth.
Files too
Lock photos, PDFs and documents into a file that only your contact can open, then send it however you like.
Contacts by QR code
Meet in person and scan each other’s code. Ramzi marks the key as verified, so you know it really belongs to them.
Quick unlock
Open your key with your fingerprint or your phone’s PIN, even on phones without a fingerprint sensor.
Made for you, in your language
English and العربية
Ramzi is fully translated into Arabic, right to left, and you can switch languages inside the app. It follows the same calm look as all Nour Emran apps.
How it works
Three simple steps
Create your key
Enter your name and a passphrase. Ramzi makes your personal key in a second, right on your phone.
Swap keys
Scan each other’s QR code, or send your key as text. You only do this once for each contact.
Encrypt and send
Write your message, choose who it’s for, and paste the result into any chat. Your contact opens it with Ramzi or any OpenPGP app.
Security, explained honestly
What’s protected, and how
- 🔐 Messages and files: OpenPGP with modern Ed25519 and X25519 keys
- ✍️ Signed by default, so your contact can see it really came from you
- 🛡️ Your private key: protected by your passphrase and sealed in your phone’s secure hardware
- 🧹 Decrypted text disappears after a minute, and screenshots are blocked
Ramzi hides what you say, not that you talked: your chat app still sees who you message and when. And no app can protect a phone that is already infected, so keep your phone updated.
Questions
Good to know
Does the other person need Ramzi?
No. Ramzi uses the OpenPGP standard, so your contact can also use another OpenPGP app, such as GnuPG, Kleopatra or OpenKeychain.
What if I lose my phone?
Make a backup of your key in Ramzi (open your key under Keys, then “Back up my key”) and keep the file somewhere safe and offline. Without a backup, messages sent to that key can’t be opened again.
What about iPhones?
Ramzi is Android-only for now. People with an iPhone can still exchange messages with you using any OpenPGP app.
What is Ramzi built on?
On OpenPGP, an open and widely reviewed encryption standard, and on well-known open-source encryption libraries, PGPainless and Bouncy Castle. Ramzi’s own code is not published.
Does Ramzi cost anything?
No. Ramzi is free, with no ads and no subscriptions, like all Nour Emran apps.
About Ramzi
Ramzi (رمزي) means “my code”. We built it because private conversations shouldn’t depend on which chat app your friends use. It’s made with the same care for privacy as Zahra and Asrar.
