End-to-end encrypted
One-to-one chats and private groups are encrypted with OMEMO. Only the people in the chat can read them.
Your own server
Messages live on your company’s server, not ours. Your admin creates the accounts, so there are no public sign-ups.
No ads, no tracking
No advertising, no analytics and no crash reports sent anywhere. Your messages travel only through your company’s server.
Most work chat apps keep your company’s conversations on someone else’s servers. Asrar gives them back to you: a familiar, modern chat app for your staff, and a server that belongs to your company.

What Asrar does
Everything a team needs, nothing it doesn’t
Edit and delete for everyone
Fix a typo, or take a message back at any time. Everyone sees “edited”, or a clear “This message was deleted”. Nothing disappears silently.
Pinned messages
Keep one important message, like a safety notice or today’s assignment, at the top of a chat for everyone. In groups, only admins can pin.
Announcement channels
Channels where only admins can post and everyone else reads. That’s enforced by your server, not just hidden in the app.
Chats, Groups and Channels
Three tabs keep one-to-one chats, private groups and channels apart, each with its own unread badge.
Made for your team, in your language
English and العربية, light and dark
Asrar is fully translated into Arabic, and each person can choose their language inside the app. Light and dark themes follow the same calm look as all Nour Emran apps.
How it works
Three simple steps
Your company server
Your company runs its own chat server on its own domain, or pays a hosting provider for one. Asrar works with standard XMPP servers such as Snikket or Prosody.
Accounts from your admin
Your admin creates an account for each person. Nobody outside your company can sign up on your server.
Install and chat
Staff install Asrar on their Android phones (directly, or through your device management) and sign in with their company address, like name@company.com, or simply tap the invite link from their admin.
Security, explained honestly
What’s protected, and how
- 🔒 One-to-one chats and private groups: end-to-end encrypted (OMEMO)
- 🛡️ Only the sender can edit or delete their message, checked on every phone
- 🏢 Messages are stored on your company’s server, never on ours
- 📵 No ads, analytics or crash reports sent to anyone
Public and announcement channels can’t be end-to-end encrypted, so your own server can read them. Keep confidential topics in private groups or one-to-one chats.
Questions
Before you get in touch
Can I download Asrar here?
Soon. Asrar will be free to download from this page, like all our apps. Your company can then share it with staff directly or through its device management.
What about iPhones?
Asrar is Android-only for now. Staff with iPhones can use a standard XMPP app such as Monal or Snikket on the same company server, and chat with Asrar users normally. Asrar-only extras like pinned messages won’t show there.
Where are our messages stored?
On your company’s own server, and on your team’s phones. Nour Emran does not run any chat servers and never receives or stores your messages, contacts or usage data.
Is Asrar open source?
Yes. Asrar is a modified version of Conversations, a well-established open-source XMPP app, licensed under GPLv3. We added Asrar’s features for companies, and the complete source code is available on request.
Can people from outside our company contact my staff?
That depends on how your server is set up. It can be closed to your company only, or allowed to talk to other XMPP servers. You decide.
Does Asrar cost anything?
No. Asrar is free, with no ads and no subscriptions, like all Nour Emran apps. The only cost is your own chat server, which your company runs itself or rents from a hosting provider of its choice.
About Asrar
Asrar (أسرار) means “secrets”. We built it for companies that want a modern chat app for their team without handing their conversations to someone else. It’s the business side of Nour Emran Tech, made with the same care for privacy as Zahra.
Asrar is based on Conversations, an open-source app we respect and build on, released under the GNU General Public License v3. Its original authors’ copyright notices are kept in the app. Read how Asrar handles data in our Privacy Policy.
